Publishing my First Blog Post..Again
By Maneesh on Sep 25, 2007 in Blogging
Got tagged on this one by Pradeep.
The deal is to publish my first blog post again. A friendly challenge started by Kirk at just-thinking.net. The idea in his words being “to find out where you were when you first started out”.
Unneglectable is new, so there is no point posting its first post. My very first post was on a blog called farsanchaurasia.blogspot.com. The post was about literacy in one of the states in India. But am not going to post that either, because neither did it have a purpose to where my blog was headed nor would most of my readers relate to it.
Publishing my first post on limitless instead. I believe my first serious posting began with thelimitless. Wanted to escape from the usual ‘Hi, this is my first post and I like blue’ kind of introductory posts. Ended up with a long and powerful post on living and is still one of my favourite posts. Take some time out for this one..its way too long..

Memories are distant no more
When all that you live for is a … memory
not so much a profound thought as i’d have wanted it to be… nevertheless the point being served is the quest to lead a memorable life. Though i don’t have a litmus, my sensibilities say all of us have this common goal. Success in life has become more of an explanation to screwing yourself up time and again and that doesn’t mean getting laid by the way.
You want to attribute your success to your struggles. You don’t want it easy, you don’t take it easy, you make sure no stone is left unturned to make matters worse for you before meeting the challenge, the one you made sure was thrown at you. Why? The point in the matter if there is any, is glory. No success is glory if it comes on a platter. No success is weighed in gold if it got no glory to stand on.
Success is relative, maybe subjective but it never has a marked definition. And thus if 10 say you are successful, a 100 will stand up and say you are not or maybe someone has had more of it than you. The glory lost, the purpose of life is suddenly vanquished. There is no point in the success you achieve even after 99 of your 100 adversaries come over to your side, ’cause you can’t please that 1 standing against you. People can deny your success but they can’t deny the path you chose. The end, however it be defined just becomes a formality to bed with death.
The path that you took is laden with your actions.. iced with the time you leased from space for yourself. The path is then just a collage of memories that you dress it with. The wider your path, the more irrelevant becomes what becomes of your life.. failure or success. You widen your road with your memories. The glory you seek, you gain with the memories you leave.
It may not be laid with rose
the road can go from bad to worse
Yet it’s the path ..that I chose
The thought is not the usual cliche of it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose. It is in fact in total contradiction to it. It matters a lot that you win. Your glory lies in having won always. Every step you took was on the stairway to glory. You win and you go further, lose and you step back. The path is suddenly a ladder … it seems you can reach the top but the higher you move it seems the ladder just stretched itself a bit more.
No one might ever clear the ladder, but people will remember how high you went. People will slog their ass out to go further than you. Your glory is the step you took and how many than where you took the step to.
Your victories become your the first stones of your memories, while the losses seem the harsh rain belting the stones down back to earth, whatever it be they are not your success they are just baggage en route to succeeding at a general level. And that is why they have a clear definition..you either win or lose and everyone agrees. One might argue that success then becomes a measure of your victories. The more times you’ ve won the more successful you are.
This is where the crux of the matter lies. A victory is never certain, and you can’t let your glory lie in the hands of uncertainty.. so one braces for the scepter of failure by increasing the possibilities of failure.. make the fight harder, because harder the fight.. the better the victory and softer the loss. Your glory will rise coz the fight was challenging.. Hector and Achilles both died.. but the glory remains, we all remember Hector for the man he was, for his memory that thrives still..though he lost. He could have chosen to stay back.. but he chose glory. And that’s what we all do..that’s what we all want to do.
In the end those who are remembered are the ones who leave behind things to remember.. who decide that success no longer means anything more than a word which people toss around.
Make your life memorable.. let the pain come.. it darkens not your life but the ground on which you built your life.. in the end the troubles make you shine bright..
And lay to rest my glory
To the sound of Cannon not gun
and death you can’t harm me..am sorry
Coz’ i left behind memories no one can shun..
Need to tag two people on this one now. I think I will try an be ambitious and tag two people whom I have subscribed to but don’t comment very often. Andy Beard and Anita Bora.. and the fact that their initials match is just a coincidence.
Let’ s see if they respond.

Hi Maneesh,
Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your “first post” but one of my newly updated anti-spam plugins blocked all trackbacks to my site rather than just the spammy ones.
Thats a good first post and not that long at all. At least to my way of thinking.
I’ll add you to the list and thanks for joining in!
